NEW from Lime Crime: Venus, The Grunge Palette

Lime Crime: Venus, The Grunge Palette

If you follow Lime Crime on Instagram, you would have already gotten a sneak peak at their newest eyeshadow palette - Venus: The Grunge Palette. The very first thing you might notice is the overall colour theme - burnt reds and oranges. Lime Crime creator Doe Deere describes the palette as the "new-tral" palette that caters to the new wave of grunge circa 2014.

While most would argue that grey and taupe would be the more obvious choice to represent the much romanticized 90's fad, Doe Deere challenges the norm (once again) and brings colour into the faded trend of the grunge era.

I find it a refreshing change of pace to the overwhelming selection of neutral eyeshadow palettes currently on the market. There seems to be no lack of taupe, brown, bronze or beige eyeshadows available from the high-end or drugstore brands. In fact, I argue that once a beauty trend hits the drugstore, it has become dated and overdone.

Take Maybelline's The Nudes Palette that was released over the summer - a take on the cult favourite Naked Palette from Urban Decay that was released over four years ago. I skipped out on that little drugstore "gem" due to the abundance of neutral palettes already in my possession.

Lime Crime's Venus: The Grunge Palette comes on the market at exactly the right time. Not only are the consumers crying for a new eyeshadow palette trend, the seasonal timing is could not be more perfect. The Fall lends itself to a more dirty, warmer and richer colour scheme. While I am unsure if the intention was to take inspiration from the changing colours of the leaves, the Venus: The Grunge Palette does encompass the very same colours of the autumn leaves.

The new neutrals -  'New-trals'

I have also noticed a new trend in the beauty blogger/vlogger world over the past month where the most coveted colours in a palette or collection have been on the red-orange spectrum. Take Makeup Geek's Creme Brulee and Cocoa Bear, or Sienna, Caramel and Fresh Peach from Anastaia Beverly Hills Maya Mia Palette. All fall in the red-orange spectrum and all coveted by their users.

Like most Lime Crime products, the Venus: The Grunge Palette, will break people out of their comfort zone and open them up to a new kind of makeup-game. It will be released in late October 2014. Stay tune to my blog or social media for it's release!
